Kate is experienced in the following:

Kate’s career has focused on Early Years and working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). She has spent many years working in the State and Private sectors, which includes Maternity Nursing and Teaching. Over these years, she has gained experience and knowledge working with children who have SEN. It led Kate to work within the deaf community and gain her qualifications in British Sign Language (BSL).
After having a break from her career to have her children, Kate went back to work for Surrey County Council Sure Start Children’s Centres. There she managed a children’s centre and gained great experience working to support families and their communities. She worked in partnership with many different sectors, from Health to Social, Police to Housing where she supported families with a wide variety of needs.
In recent years, Kate has moved within Children Services, from Education, where she spent time working and supporting children with issues accessing education, to Family Services and Child Protection, where she currently supervises contact for children and their families.
Kate is a great communicator with great experience in dealing with family support. She is caring, compassionate, empathetic and understanding of people’ needs. Kate is driven to ensures she achieves the best outcome possible and remains positive no matter how difficult things get.
Kate has two children and lives near Esher in Surrey. She enjoys spending her time with her family and friends. Her children keep her active. They all enjoy the great outdoors and they especially love to climb and paddle board.
For the last year, Kate has volunteered for The SANDS Charity. This is a charity close to her heart where she offers bereavement support to those who have lost their baby. She supports a monthly bereavement group and gives talks at NHS Hospitals to Maternity staff and volunteers in order to raise awareness about the charity and how it can support those who may need to use its services.
Kate also supports another Surrey Children’s Charity, CHIPS, (children’s holiday independent play scheme) where she has helped co-ordinate over the last 14 years.
