*Male Buddy


Part-Time *Male Buddy in the Carlisle area required to work with a 14-year-old boy with Erb's Palsy to develop his social skills and confidence through a wide range of activities.

Our client has a wonderful sense of humour described by family members as a budding comedian.

This role would be a great fit for a sports enthusiast. Our client specifically enjoys Football (Carlisle and Liverpool), Rugby, and Cricket but in general an interest in all ball sports is essential. The role will involve supporting the client to attend local Football matches, kick a ball around with friends as well as participating in other community activities.

Supporting the client to attend a junior gym one night per week under the guidance of the physiotherapist by promoting the client’s participation in therapeutic activities on a functional basis.

Aside from the outdoor physical activities the Buddy should have knowledge and interest in gaming consoles such as PlayStation. Our client is currently enjoying FIFA and Fortnite.

Experience of working alongside and under the guidance of a multidisciplinary team of physiotherapist and occupational therapist. The Buddy will understand and liaise with the various treating therapists to work under guided programmes. Assisting the client to develop life skills such as accessing public transport, gaining greater awareness around budgeting and social interaction.

Buddy will need to be confident and comfortable with the family dog.

Working hours:

18:00pm – 20:00pm one night per week to support attendance at the Gym.

6 hours on a Saturday to Support the client to attend football matches and other community-based activities.    

Our client seeks someone who is well organised and flexible, particularly outside of term time. Good communication skills are also essential. Good sense of humour beneficial. Driver with full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle.

An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable. Otherwise, the applicant must be willing to undertake Care Certificate training, all mandatory and bespoke training including emergency medication for allergies.

All posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure with Child Workforce Barring.  Full training will be provided.
