EXPERIENCE

Sharmin graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2012. She has worked specifically within the neuro field since 2016 with a variety of patients with neurological conditions including traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, stroke, long term conditions, functional neurological disorder (FND), neuro oncology and more.

She has worked in one of the UKs leading NHS trusts specialising in neurology, neurosciences, spinal and pain management service as well as the largest private hospital specialising in complex care. She has worked both in the UK and in Australia.

Sharmin enjoys providing a holistic approach to physiotherapy, working very closely with clients to work on their individual goals whilst also providing evidence-based programme. She aims to provide not only evidence-based programmes but meaningful and fun exercises.

Throughout her career Sharmin has worked with countless professionals and enjoys working within the multi-disciplinary team (MDT). She not only understands the roles of other professionals but values them. She is excellent at setting up MDT working but also flourishes in making meaningful relationships with other professionals.

Sharmin can complete comprehensive assessments to set up bespoke and realistic rehabilitation programmes for clients – setting goals and case management plans. She also believes in empowering the client to help them better understand their needs and to be able to set goals together that are meaningful and push the client to their potential.

She is a client centred practitioner who works very closely with clients and their families to understand how to best support their injury related needs. Sharmin demonstrates progress with her clients with clear documentation and regular review of the clients’ goals and expectations. Sharmin enjoys working within the community as treatment can be much more tailored to the individual and realistic of their home and community environment. She is proactive and an excellent communicator.

PERSONAL PROFILE

Sharmin has lived in London for over fours years now, she is originally from Derry in Northern Ireland but has also lived in Manchester, Liverpool, Sydney and Melbourne. She enjoys travelling but tends to stick to shorter breaks nowadays. She lives with her partner and two cats. She enjoys keeping fit by going to the gym and indoor rock climbing. She enjoys socialising with friends and spending time with her family. To unwind and express herself she plays guitar, sings and occasionally writes.

Sharmin is very outgoing and loves making a difference in peoples lives – no matter how big or small the achievement or goal is.
