Amanda currently runs her own private OT Service and works as an Associate Practitioner for other private practices. Amanda also works as an independent Best Interest Assessor for the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and regularly completes assessments in care homes within her local and neighbouring health authorities.

Amanda also continues to work with ex-services personnel who require occupational therapy assessments to help them improve their access to the community. For example, assessing them for the safe operation of Electric Powered Vehicles (EPVs) or Powered wheel-chairs. Through this work Amanda has collaborated with a lot of product specialists and helped clients to access charitable funding for their OT needs.

Amanda's expert knowledge has also focused on housing and equipment needs, completing detailed assessments in clients’ home environments, recommending minor/major adaptations to include applying for Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG’s) or identifying specialist equipment that would benefit the client and help them live as independently as possible.

Amanda is accustomed to completing assessments in hospital and in the community identifying health and safety issues and minimising risk. Amanda takes a holistic and creative approach when seeing clients and understands the many influences that can affect their lives. She is highly skilled in assessing her clients’ needs and daily living skills, providing a personalised service which focuses on her client's own rehabilitation goals.

Since qualifying as an Occupational Therapist Amanda has also worked in a busy acute city hospital covering rotations in trauma orthopaedics, community rehabilitation, and surgical, medical and renal departments. As a senior OT Amanda was responsible for setting up a pilot project delivering an integrated approach to hospital discharge planning and identifying, setting and completing project targets.

Prior to qualifying as an Occupational Therapist in 2010, Amanda travelled extensively and worked in various administration, teaching and later, healthcare roles around the world. Amanda brings a combination of different life experiences and skills to her role. This has helped her to become an empathetic, non-judgemental clinician embracing work with clients from a range of backgrounds in a variety of settings.
