EXPERIENCE

Curtis studied BSc Speech and Language Therapy at Leeds Beckett University and is registered with The Health and Care Professions Council as a registered Speech and Language Therapist.

After returning to the North West of England in 2019, Curtis has been working as a Case Manager for paediatric and adult clients with complex needs. Curtis thoroughly enjoys putting his clients at the centre of their rehab; ensuring their goals, needs, and wishes are respected and met. Curtis understands clients and that their family’s just want what is best for them and Curtis takes pride in in facilitating this. Curtis is passionate about providing opportunities to his clients to unlock their best care, support, therapy and social opportunities. Curtis is a firm believer in rehab without barriers and enjoys enabling his clients to mix great therapy with great fun from activities ranging from traditional pastimes to axe-throwing & skiing.

Before moving into case management, Curtis worked for two years as a Support Team Leader in Wales with a complex client on a 1:1 basis. Prior to this, Curtis worked as a Court Intermediary in the Criminal, Family and Youth Courts across the U.K. where he supported vulnerable defendants’ communication needs during court proceedings.

Curtis has experience working with clients and their families who require complex care, support, case management and therapy. Curtis is highly capable of working with clients as young as toddlers with complex needs and beyond. Curtis is skilled at providing person-focused and goal-oriented case management for vulnerable individuals who live with:

  • Cerebral Palsy (paediatric & young adults)
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (including walking wounded/dysexecutive functioning)
  • Spinal injury
  • Behavioural, Emotional and Social deficits
  • Orthopaedic injuries
  • Amputations

As a Case Manager, Curtis has cultivated a diverse network of highly trained, skilled and experienced treating therapists that can be appointed to make up a Multi-Disciplinary Team that is specific to the person’s needs. Curtis has strong communication & organisational skills to optimally coordinate a team of treating therapists to ensure a cohesive and goal focused approach.

Curtis places the client at the epicentre of his approach and strives to support all of his clients to live their life to their optimum potential. Curtis is able to achieve this by personalising care and therapeutic input and ensuring it is tailored to the individual.

PERSONAL PROFILE

Curtis resides in the north of England with his partner and is fortunate to be a proud father to his kids. For his sins, Curtis is an avid football fan and season ticket holder of a team in the North West. On weekends where Curtis is not on the footballing terraces, he is often seen going for yomps around the British countryside with his family.

Curtis has personal experience of going through rehabilitation following major surgery & understands the importance of rehabilitation. Curtis is mindful of the profound impact ill health and recovery can have on an individual’s physical and mental health and the lives of those around them. Curtis’ empathy of the recovery process drives his goal to support his clients to discover their full potential and maximise their outcomes.
