EXPERIENCE

Dan has gained valuable experience working within care companies specialising in care for adults with Autism and Asperger Syndrome. He has worked in residential environments including multiple occupancy and single person households, often on a 1 - 1 basis, assisting clients to access activities in the community. From this, Dan has fine-tuned a person-centred approach to suit varying individual needs.

Dan spent several years at the National Star College as an Activity and Residential Support Worker. Through this role, he supported students with a wide range of disabilities during their time on and off campus. He is experienced in assisting clients to achieve a smooth transition from college into independent or supported living. Dan has worked alongside clients planning activities, attending structured learning sessions and assisting with therapy appointments. From this, Dan is able to manage and oversee multidisciplinary teams in a cohesive manner.

As a team leader, Dan learnt the foundations of what it takes to become a skilled Assistant Case Manager and he now successfully assists Case Managers with the following:

  • Implementing therapy lead structure to the client’s week, finding entertainment and activities relevant to each client’s hobbies and interests.
  • Rota management and dealing with payroll.
  • Co-ordinating MDT Team.
  • Writing and maintaining care-plans and risk assessments.

Dan has completed Community Case Management Services’ comprehensive Pathway Training course to include the understanding of the litigation process, and the role and importance of the assistant case manager.

PERSONAL PROFILE

Dan has learnt a great deal about brain injury by accompanying clients to Silverlining Charity meetings and on accessible holidays abroad. Dan’s passion is helping clients to live a fulfilled life. He recently organised and supported a client whose passion is music, to volunteer for Oxfam, working as a steward at various large music festivals around the country.

After many years of travelling the UK and elsewhere to cycle and snowboard, Dan now enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter, still occasionally trying to fit in some mountain biking locally.
