Elena is fluent in Romanian and has worked full time in the United Kingdom for the past 12 years. As she is Romanian, she has an excellent understanding of clients having English as a second language and has experienced the different cultures and health and social care differences that the UK provides.

Elena has worked as a personal assistant for the last twelve years, undertaking a range of health and social care tasks for her clients. She has developed her role into informal case management and has excellent experience of enabling community based rehabilitation and support programmes with numerous clients across many ethnic backgrounds.

Elena has extensive experience of working with young and elderly clients with acquired brain injuries. She has worked extensively with clients in their own homes, enabling them to remain independent. Elena’s past work experience includes direct recruitment of staff, devising staff rotas and reviewing care plans, undertaking risk assessments, enabling clients to manage their finances (including benefit application), working within a rehabilitation and enablement team and ensuring that clients have the most appropriate equipment that supports rehabilitation.

Elena has worked as part of a care team looking after a spinal client. She also is an assistant case manager for a local gentleman with spinal injuries.

Elena has assisted many her clients to purchase Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles and Mobility Scooters. She is knowledgeable about the Motability Scheme and in supporting clients to attend driving assessments.

Elena has worked with clients having a wide range of disabilities. This includes clients with neurological conditions, orthopaedic difficulties, acquired brain injury and those suffering from dementia.

Elena has assisted her clients by coordinating their therapy provision such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and psychotherapy; she has encouraged and enabled her clients to engage fully with the recommended therapy strategies and exercise programmes, ensuring that her clients progress in their rehabilitation or maintain their independence. Elena develops good professional relationships and she is well liked by her clients and their families.

Elena can identify risks and difficulties and find appropriate solutions that meet her client’s needs. Elena acts as her clients advocate when dealing with statutory services and ensures that all the entitled services are being provided. Elena has been involved with interviewing support staff, providing training within her client’s homes, ensuring that staff complete their mandatory training and offering supervision to newly employed support workers. Supervision and organisation of support workers is of paramount importance and something that Elena is skilled at undertaking.

Currently Elena is undertaking her care certificate so that she has increased knowledge of the course which will assist her when supervising new support workers in future. Elena undertakes regular training sessions to maintain her professional development.

Elena has gained experienced informal case management for the last twelve years and has now chosen to develop her career within case management.

PERSONAL PROFILE

Elena is married and has two children. Her mother-in-law lives with them enabling Elena to work full time. Elena enjoys gardening and walking. She looks after people’s dogs when they go away on holiday. Elena enjoys going to auctions and antique fairs. In her spare time, Elena enjoys organising social activities with her children, which takes up most of her time. Elena enjoys travelling and visits her family in Romania every year.

Elena has an enquiring mind and enjoys increasing her knowledge on many things, not just professionally. Elena has excellent IT skills and uses both Microsoft and Mac systems with ease.
