Helen is a qualified physiotherapist having trained in Birmingham and graduated in 1991.

EXPERIENCE

Following her training, Helen started her general practice as a physiotherapist within the NHS. She then went to The Royal London Hospital to gain experience in acute paediatrics and then community based within children's own homes and school.

Helen later moved into the charitable sector working as Head of Physiotherapy for The Children's Trust, Tadworth for ten years with children with acquired brain and spinal injuries and alongside children with complex developmental delays who attended for respite or to attend St Margaret's residential school onsite.

Helen has worked within private paediatric physiotherapy for the last 16 years, working with clients with a variety of neurological disabilities, many of whom she has worked with for the whole of that period.

She provides both hand-on therapy and reports for health or education, particularly in complex cases where there may be a tribunal or educational statement.

Prior to and since working as a case manager, Helen has worked with a variety of health and social care professionals and has accumulated a good knowledge of the holistic care required to support them.

Helen has also managed therapists working in social services and has thereby gained a good level of knowledge of statutory provisions and equipment.

Helen is committed to providing a comprehensive case management service to her clients and ensures that they are enabled to lead as high a quality of life as she would expect for her own family. She is happy to travel to any parts of the country to provide input and is used to liaising with statutory services, attending reviews etc. Helen will share travel costs with clients where possible. She is efficient in the production of reports and can work happily to deadlines.

PERSONAL PROFILE

Since qualifying, Helen has strived to continually learn as much as possible about a wide variety of conditions, services and equipment to ensure that her clients receive the best possible care.

She takes pride in her extensive knowledge and ensures that it is always up to date. Helen has developed extremely positive relationships with a variety of clients and their families and thoroughly enjoy being able to support families -

She has always been passionate about challenging boundaries to achieve outcomes and always has a 'can do' attitude. She also thrives on sharing her knowledge and enjoys teaching and developing others to support clients.

Helen has a young son, which she believes gives her a more first-hand perspective on juggling work and home life and keeps busy with her family, although she also tries to make time for her own interests such as dancing and general fitness.
