  • Community Mental Health

Rob originally trained as an outdoor activity instructor on the south coast before pursuing a corporate career in retail, giving him 11 years of experience managing the ups and downs of business. Rob then progressed on to roles at Heathrow Airport as Team Lead Agent for passengers with reduced mobility services. Rob’s passion remains in outdoor activity and motorsport which he often incorporates into his work.

Through his volunteer work with The Bike Experience charity and Talan Racing, Rob has developed his experience of working with people with a wide range of life changing conditions. Rob has been involved in consulting a periodic examination into the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the Department of Work and Pensions. He has also spoken at several events including the 2016 Breaking More Boundaries Conference as a sibling of a young adult with a severe brain injury.

In June 2018 Rob graduated with first-class honours in BSc Occupational Therapy studying at Oxford Brookes University whilst working with case management clients. Studying for his degree has provided him with valuable experience in community re-ablement services, rheumatology and an extended placement within community mental health services, supporting adults with chronic and enduring mental health conditions.

Rob has recently completed further training with BABICM in supporting adults through the Criminal Justice System, Substance Use, Mental Health, Self-Harm & Suicide. In addition to this Rob has attended presentations on Cyber Threats Safeguarding for vulnerable adults, GDPR and deprivation of liberties in the home.

PERSONAL PROFILE

Rob is a married father of two young children and is passionate about the value of family and its role in recovery. Rob has first-hand lived experience of a severe brain injury within his family giving him a very realistic perspective of both the challenges and opportunities involved in the recovery process.

Rob remains passionate about outdoor activity and motorsport and when not working can often be found ‘playing’ on one of his bikes.
