Tanya started her Social Care career in 2011 supporting people who have disabilities, both neurological and physical. She worked for a charity and as a Personal Assistant in family homes via direct payments. Tanya qualified as a Social Worker in 2016 and she went on to work as a deputy manager in a local authority children’s home for children who have disabilities and complex needs.

During her time as the deputy manager Tanya managed:

  • Employees
  • Recruitment of staff
  • Care and support plans
  • Risk assessments and adhering to Ofsted requirements
  • Rotas
  • Collating the child’s voice

Following this Tanya has worked in local authorities, specialising in safeguarding for children with disabilities. Tanya has experience of setting up large packages of care and has helped families to find support workers and has experience of working with commissioning teams.

Tanya currently works as an independent care manager and has designed a bespoke home for a client with complex needs and a 24/7 care package. Tanya’s current role includes liaising with the local authority, making recommendations in respect of specialist assessments, managing budgets, providing advice and guidance. She also manages the care team and recruitment. In addition, Tanya is responsible for undertaking risk assessments, support plans and day to day care documentation.

Tanya has a special interest in supporting people to live independently within their own homes and the prevention of residential care settings. Furthermore, Tanya has a keen interest in alternative communication and the different this makes to people’s quality of life.
