For 30 years, Heidi has cultivated a career focused on providing specialised care, rehabilitation and therapy for individuals with diverse needs. Initially serving as a special educational needs (SEN) nanny and creative dance teacher for children and adults with additional needs. She has a wealth of experience working with clients who have an acquired brain injury (ABI), cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, autism, or dementia. Heidi further expanded her expertise by working within psychiatric hospitals, facilitating sessions for individuals with conditions such as Bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, and depression.
Heidi collaborates closely with multidisciplinary professionals, compiles detailed reports and assessments, and delivered hands-on care to individuals with intricate needs. Heidi transitioned into the realm of dance psychotherapy, exploring its therapeutic benefits during her postgraduate studies at Roehampton University. Specialising in dance movement therapy for individuals special needs.
Alongside her dance therapy, Heidi assumed roles supporting individuals with ABI and cerebral palsy, progressing to senior and team leader positions, where she provided comprehensive support to families navigating complex legal processes and going through rehabilitation. In these capacities, Heidi collaborated closely with multidisciplinary professionals, compiled detailed reports and assessments, and delivered hands-on care to individuals with intricate needs.
Heidi's professional journey has led her to diverse settings including hospitals, schools, colleges, day centres, therapy facilities, royal residences and private residences. Adaptable and culturally sensitive, she has effectively worked with clients from various backgrounds, religions, and family structures, consistently prioritising comprehensive understanding and collaboration with families and professionals.
With experience as a team leader and later as a recruitment consultant in the care sector, Heidi possesses a deep understanding of team dynamics and the importance of assembling proficient care teams tailored to individual needs. Heidi’s support extends across various environments, including work, school, social outings and therapeutic settings, with a commitment to empowering clients and fostering inclusivity and providing support to the individuals family members and friends.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Heidi enjoys walks in nature with her family and dog. She maintains an active lifestyle at the gym and regularly participates in Lindy Hop dance workshops and socials. Exploring the world is a shared passion for Heidi and her loved ones, often embarking on adventures to broaden their horizons. An avid learner, Heidi seeks to deepen her understanding of people, nutrition to support health and global cultures.
