In Jenny’s case management practice, she effectively manages multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) and ensures that all stakeholders work collaboratively towards goal-based platforms with measurable outcomes. She has experience in managing budgets and identifying clients' aspirations, which allows Jenny to tailor care plans that meet their unique needs. Her assessments are based on a biopsychosocial model, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of each client's situation. she also emphasises the importance of therapeutic leisure activities, which Jenny feels significantly enhances the quality of life for her clients.
Jenny is Registered General Nurse (RGN) with 17 years of post-qualification experience across various healthcare settings including intensive care, midwifery and community nursing. Currently, she serves as a Senior Practice Nurse, Care Expert, and Non-Medical Prescriber.
During her time at the Leicester Brain Injury Unit (BIU), Jenny developed skills in rehabilitation tailored to the needs of patients with traumatic or acquired brain injuries. She also developed effective communication skills to interact with clients who had impaired cognitive function, fostering therapeutic relationships that supported both the emotional and psychological needs of patients and their families.
As a Community Nurse Jenny cultivated a diverse skill set focused on holistic, patient-centred approaches. She developed proficiency in managing chronic conditions, conducting comprehensive health assessments, and coordinating care plans that addressed both medical and social needs. Jenny became skilled in complex wound care. This role emphasised the importance of cultural sensitivity and effective communication, as she often served as an advocate for patients wishes and helped facilitate access to ,community resources.
During her time in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Jenny developed critical skills essential for managing high-acuity clients. She gained the ability to care for ventilated patients, including monitoring ventilator settings and responding effectively to changes in respiratory status. Jenny became adept in pressure area care, implementing preventive measures. The fastpaced environment of the ICU honed her decision-making skills, allowing her to rapidly assess and respond to deteriorating conditions while collaborating with MDT to execute complex care plans.
Jenny enjoys spending time with her family, listening to audiobooks and getting outside. She believes in maintaining a healthy work-life balance and has an allotment which keeps her connected to nature. Her commitment to continuous learning and professional development drives Jenny to stay updated with the latest practices in nursing and case management
