Martie is an experienced case manager, her main areas of expertise are assessment and case management of burns injuries, complex orthopaedic trauma, limb loss, traumatic brain injury and cerebral palsy for adults andchildren. Martie was awarded a Distinction for MSc in Rehabilitation in 2014, with aspecial focus on case management and disability.
She has extensive experience in providing complex case management for adults and children who sustained catastrophic or life changing injuries. Martie has worked under single and joint instruction on a number of cases and has experience in working with deputies pre and post settlement. She has a wide network of excellent private prosthetic service providers, pain specialists, rehabilitation service providers and vocational rehabilitation service providers. Martie uses her knowledge and experience to effectively coordinate care that clients receive from private and statutory service providers. Martie also uses her experience and knowledge as case manager to do expert witness work.
Martie qualified as an occupational therapist in 2000 and is an experiencedhealthcare professional with a successful career spanning 25 years both in the UK and South Africa. After qualifying in South Africa, Martie worked in paediatrics. Since coming to the UK in 2001 Martie worked the areas of orthopaedics, care of the elderly, hand therapy, amputee services, traumaservices and general medicine which included women ' s health and cardiology. She taught developmental baby massage until she started work as a case manager in 2011.
Martie provides the highest standard of timely, effective and efficient case management and communication with clients, their families, legal teams andfund holders. She has a good understanding and sound experience of the legal process involved during a personal injury or medical negligence claim, andhave supported many clients to date through this process.
Martie ensures her professional development remains up to date. She continues to attend regular conferences and training in her specialist fields in order to ensure that her professional development remains up to date.
Martie is passionate about enabling clients to achieve their goals and quality of life through a holistic client-centred approach. She is skilled and experienced in managing multiple complex rehabilitation packages.
Martie lives in Cornwall with her adventurous Cocker Spaniel, Huckleberry. Together they love exploring the moors, beaches, forests and South West Coast path. Martie has a number of creative interests and is involved in a number of community activities, including Quiet Connections, an organisation who provides connection opportunities for those with neurodiverse needs. She has personal experience in living life with an individual with complex needs, as her niece has cerebral palsy, and Martie continues to be astounded by the fearlessness and bravery to live life to the full, albeit slightly differently than her able bodied friends.
